Capital Chapowee’s pedigree is built on serious jumping blood. Her damsire is Casall, one of the most successful and influential jumping stallions of the modern era, campaigned at the very top of the sport before becoming a coveted sire. That Casall influence, sitting directly behind her, is the headline of Chapowee’s page, with the Coriano line beneath adding further jumping substance through her granddam Melissa II.

On the sire side, she is by Capital Colnardo. Colnardo’s daughters appear more than once in this sale, placing Chapowee within a small group of related mares carrying the same powerful paternal influence that we have seen produce top-quality horses again and again.

Chapowee is in foal to Capital Legacy. Legacy combines natural balance with plenty of scope and power, and his rider Nicole Horwood describes him as ‘careful, athletic and expressive yet uncomplicated to ride’. What Nicole rates most is his brain: ‘confident without being overreactive, brave without becoming strong, and naturally relaxed and trainable’. Over a correct mare like Chapowee, whose Casall and Coriano blood supplies even more jump, that combination of scope and rideability is exactly what showjumpers are looking for.
