Capital Hostavia is by the late Capital Hitoshi, who many of us will remember as a top 1.50m mount of Nicole Horwood. He was by Winningmood, a Darco son who competed at the highest international level with Luciana Diniz. Hitoshi’s damline ran through Sioux de Baugy to Grand Veneur, a foundational French sire credited with more than 300 showjumping winners and 74 licensed sons, among them Le Tot de Semilly and Major de la Cour.

Hostavia is in foal to Capital’s Harton v/d Berghoeve Z, a 2019 Zangersheide stallion by Heartbreaker out of a Diamant de Semilly mare, with the great Atoucha van ‘t Roosakker as third dam. Heartbreaker is a byword for technique and carefulness, Diamant de Semilly for scope and blood, and the Roosakker family is among the most influential in European breeding. Nicole Horwood describes Harton as ‘a seriously impressive young stallion with a strong frame, a massive step and exceptional natural power’. She states that he is ‘incredibly scopey and athletic with plenty of blood and fire while staying level-headed and rideable‘.
