Capital Haylee is by Capital Homerus, the BWP stallion whose damline comes from the very successful Holsteiner line 162, the family of Carthago and Canturo, out of Cash and Lord blood; his own dam produced the winner of the Belgian Trophy for Young Horses in 2009 and a finalist in the free-jumping competition at Mechelen in 2008. Henning rates him plainly, describing his offspring as having superb rideability and scope, and that is what Homerus reliably transmits.

Underneath, Capital Ulior van het Wuitenshof adds refinement and rideability, with Land Earl bringing older substance through her granddam Capital Hazel. The result is a big, correct mare bred to carry a foal and to pass on frame.

Haylee is in foal to Capital’s Barnardini JT Z, and this is a cross with real ambition behind it. Barnardini is a Zangersheide stallion by Baloubet du Rouet, one of the most decorated showjumpers of all time. Barnardini’s dam, Happy Days Z, is a full sister to the Olympic showjumper Hardrock JT Z and has produced six sporthorses including four black-type performers, while his second dam, Carte Blanche Z, is by Carthago out of a Ramiro Z mare. That Carthago blood ties neatly back into Haylee’s own Homerus line 162 heritage. Nicole Horwood describes Barnardini as a modern young sporthorse whose standout qualities are balance, rideability and adjustability, a horse who from the first ride felt far more experienced than his years. Capital Haylee carries a foal built for the podium.
