Capital Ronan is by Rendement, a 1.60m horse who jumped at the 2010 World Equestrian Games under Johan Lotter, and himself a son of Burggraaf, the Dutch stallion combining Landgraf I and Cor de la Bryère. Rendement breeds for size, carefulness and rideability, and it comes through in his offspring.

Ronan’s dam, Alzu Subzero, is by Capital Shiraz, a son of the Hanoverian Stallion of the Year Stakkato, one of the most dominant jumping sires of all time. Her dam, Alzu Broadfields, is by the Selle Français stallion Bambix and comes from a proven South African family. It is genuine jumping stock, top and bottom.

Under saddle, Ronan is utterly straightforward. He has a big, ground-covering stride, meets his fences on a good line and jumps them without fuss, and he does it with a kind, willing temperament that makes him genuinely easy to ride. He is a horse to learn on and grow with, an ideal first horse for an ambitious amateur, with the breeding beneath to keep aiming higher.
