CAPITAL CATO

Capital Cornetblue Floreval Z x Capital Capriccio x Filou des Mesnils

26.12.2021   |   Grey   |   Gelding   |   168cm

Capital Cato is built on the sire cross behind many of our top jumping prospects. He is by Capital Cornetblue Floreval Z, a son of Cornet Obolensky out of a Chacco-Blue mare, bringing two of the most influential jumping stallions of the modern era together.

Cornet Obolensky, by Clinton and out of a Heartbreaker-line mare, jumped for Germany at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and has gone on to top the 2025 WBFSH sire ranking. Chacco-Blue, the late Mecklenburg stallion, led that same ranking for six straight years from 2017 and is the sire of horses such as Ben Maher’s Explosion W.

Cato’s dam, Capital Carissa, is by Capital Capriccio, one of the stud’s own foundation stallions. Capriccio was by Cor de la Bryère, the Holstein foundation sire whose influence underpins the modern jumping horse, out of a mare by Capitol I, another cornerstone of jumping breeding.

Under saddle, Cato is athletic and intelligent, a horse who rewards thoughtful, accurate riding. He has real impulsion and the scope that comes with it, the kind of engine that can carry a rider up the levels as the partnership develops. He is a prospect for someone who enjoys producing a sharp, careful horse and wants a serious ceiling to aim for.
