Capital Cortina is, as Dirk describes, “Conlanc’s style with Rival’s scope”. She is by Capital Conlanc, who competed at Grand Prix with Danielle Lemmer and won the 2019 Nissan SA Junior Outdoor Grand Prix with Matthew Morrison. Conlanc is by the legendary Contender, the Holstein sire of Montender, Checkmate and Carlo, giving Cortina genuine performance blood at the head of her page.

Her dam, Capital Urina, is by Capital Ulior van het Wuitenshof, with her dam line running back to Rival d’Or, the source of her scope. It is a dam side that blends imported jumping blood with proven South African quality.

Under saddle, Cortina is a sensitive, very forward mare, soft in the mouth and correct in her technique with careful front legs. She needs a quiet, tactful rider, and in the right hands she is a scopey, careful prospect with the ability to reward sympathetic production.
